Patient-friendly websites that everyone can use

Many clinic websites have barriers that block patients who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or older phones. I find and fix them in your real site code, with no plugins and no overlays.

Why now

Under the updated HHS Section 504 rule, healthcare providers that receive federal financial assistance (Medicare and Medicaid count) need websites that meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

  • May 11, 2027: practices with 15 or more employees
  • May 10, 2028: practices with fewer than 15 employees

Dates as extended by HHS on May 7, 2026. This page is general information, not legal advice.

The free pilot (1–2 local clinics)

  • An accessibility audit of up to 5 pages (your homepage plus key pages such as appointments, contact, services and forms), checked against WCAG 2.1 AA with automated tools and hands-on keyboard and screen-reader testing
  • Fixes for the top 5–10 issues, made in your actual site or handed to your web person as clear instructions
  • A plain-English before-and-after report with scores
  • No overlays or plugins

What I ask in return: written permission to publish a short case study (your clinic is named only if you agree), an optional testimonial, and before-and-after scores and screenshots.

Services

After the pilot, clinics can continue with any of these:

  • Accessibility audit: a full WCAG 2.1 AA review of your site with a prioritized, plain-English report.
  • Remediation: I fix the issues directly in your site’s code, or give your web person clear instructions.
  • Ongoing monitoring: monthly checks so new pages and updates stay accessible.

Pricing depends on site size. Email me for a quote.

How it works

  1. Quick call to choose your most important pages
  2. Audit and plain-English report of issues by priority
  3. I fix the top 5–10 issues (about 15–20 hours total)
  4. After report showing what changed
  5. Optional: ongoing help if you want it, with no obligation

What this isn't

This isn’t legal advice or a compliance certification, and no one can guarantee you won’t receive a complaint. It’s a practical first step that fixes the biggest barriers and shows you where the rest are.

Results

Pilot results will be posted here after the first projects are complete.
