Hello, I’m Erick.

I came to UX from graphic design. I’d been designing for print and marketing for a few years when I landed at a small startup in New York building iOS apps for the US state parks and wildlife areas. That’s where I started shaping app interfaces instead of just static layouts, and it stuck. From a UX/UI role at CBS I moved into financial services at Computershare, where I led design on the Amazon and Walmart employee stock apps. I’ve been in the field since 2010.

That graphic design background still shows up in how I work. I have a strong eye for what looks right and what feels right to use, and I pair those instincts with the structure and research that good UX needs.

These days I design and build. With AI in my workflow I can take a project from research and a Figma file to a deployed product on my own. A recent one is BizNav, an AI guide for first-time founders: I ran the demand research, set the product direction, and designed and built the marketing site. This portfolio is another build. Claude is my main tool, from shipping sites and apps to fixing live client bugs and automating the repetitive parts of my own work.

Right now I’m taking on client work with early-stage startups. I’m especially drawn to places building something worth caring about, where a design team is just getting started. For projects that need more than design, I partner with Steven Hagene at Semper Digital Solutions to cover the engineering. Steven and I have been working together since we were on the same product team at Computershare.
